JOHNSVILLE — John H. Phillips, 94, died at home Jan. 6, 2012.
He was born Aug. 25, 1917, in Mount Vernon to Clyde and Massie (Hyatt) Phillips. A graduated of Johnsville High School, he remained a lifelong area resident, self-employed as a home builder and excavating contractor.
Surviving are sons, John H. “Jack” (Dianna) Phillips, Steve (Vicki) Phillips; daughters, Karen (Bob) Morrison, Rosemary (Joseph) Baker; 22 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by wife, Grace (Kochheiser) Phillips; daughter, Janet Lee Ruhl; sisters, Ruth Phillips Allgire, Mary Phillips Smith.
Visitation is today, Jan. 9, 3 to 7 p.m., Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, followed by Masonic memorial service. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, with Pastors Ray Linn and John Moffett officiating. Burial will follow in Shauck Cemetery.
