MOUNT VERNON — Jo Anne (McIlroy) Balish, 69, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Toledo and Columbus, passed away Monday morning, Jan. 16, 2012, at the Laurels of Mount Vernon surrounded by her caring family.
She was born Aug. 13, 1942, in Toledo, daughter of the late Clifford McIlroy and Rheda (Byers) Weaver.
Jo Anne was a kind, loving and generous wife, mother, grandmother and friend. All of those whose life she touched, whether briefly or more, may they treasure always the gifts of joy and faith she engraved on them through her bright smile and graceful presence.
Jo Anne is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, George Balish III; her daughter, Tracy Ventresca Cormany of Columbus; grandchildren, Channing Cormany, Christopher Cormany, and Morgan Cormany; great-grandchildren, Austin Cormany and Taleya Cormany-Sorn; and brothers, Butch McIlroy of Delaware, Mike McIlroy, Gary McIlroy, Chuck McIlroy and Denny McIlroy, all of Toledo, and James (Jane) Petz of Defiance.
In addition to her parents, Jo Anne was preceded in death by her stepfathers, Arthur Petz and Arthur Weaver; and her loving son, Christopher Jonathan Balish.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, with the Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond as the Celebrant.
