MOUNT VERNON — Nancy L. Sheffer, 74, of Mount Vernon, left this world on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, to be with God and the Lord Jesus. Her passing occurred at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, with her loved ones at her side.

Nancy was born April 17, 1937, in Mount Vernon, to Lloyd and Grace (Stauffer) Houbler, both deceased. She was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School, class of 1955, and retired from First-Knox National Bank with many years of happy memories. Nancy was a kind and loving person who cherished her family and many good friends and enjoyed meeting with them for various outings.

Surviving are her loving husband, Gerald M. Sheffer, whom she married Feb. 2, 1957; her son and daughter-in-law, Greggory and Eve Sheffer, granddaughters, Tessa and Grace Sheffer, all of Powell; her sisters, Mary Jane (Dan) Clark of Mount Vernon and Ginny (Phil) Crider of Vero Beach, Fla.; brother-in-law, Dale Sheffer of Mount Vernon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of life gathering of friends and family Saturday, Jan. 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon.
