DEFIANCE — Bruce Polce, 52, of Defiance and formerly of Mount Vernon, died Dec. 24, 2011, at ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital, Defiance.

He was born March 19, 1959, in Dover, to John and Jean (Smith) Polce. In 1981, he graduated from Bowling Green State University, where he studied early childhood education. He was employed as a manager at Walgreens for four years.

On June 17, 1989, he married Mary Scharfenberg, who survives. Also surviving are son, Brandan of Bowling Green; daughters, Abigail and Courtney, both of Defiance; his mother of Dover; brothers, Mike Polce of Stow, Dave (Darla) Polce of Dover and Steve Polce of Sagamore Hills; and sister, Mary Jo (John) Hvizdos, New Philadelphia.

Preceding him in death was his father.

Service was Dec. 31, 2011, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Defiance. Burial in Riverside Cemetery, Defiance. Henenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, was in charge of arrangements.
