MOUNT VERNON — Frank O. O’Brien, 80, of West Vine Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at Select Specialty Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born Oct. 3, 1931, in Mount Vernon. Frank retired in 1978 from Pittsburgh Plate Glass and owned and operated the Frank O’Brien Television Repair shop. He held a private pilot’s license and enjoyed watching kick boxing and professional wrestling. Frank coached many years in the Mount Vernon Little League and enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Robert O’Brien of Mount Vernon, Ronda O’Brien of Nashville, Tenn. and Roger O’Brien of Mount Vernon; a granddaughter, Ronda O’Brien; two great-grandchildren, Abbey Wittman and Jazzlynn Wittman; two half-sisters, Helen Lober and Beverly Jones, both of Mount Vernon.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Frances O’Brien; his mother, Eva O’Brien; a great-granddaughter, Bella Wittman; and a half-brother, Sammy Cline.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home. The family will observe a private graveside service.
Memorial contributions in Frank’s name may be made to the Knox County Humane Society, 400 Columbus Road, Mount Vernon.
