MOUNT VERNON — Johnie Golden, 75, of Pleasant Valley Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at his home with his loving family by his side.

He was born Oct. 24, 1936, in Barboursville, Ky., to the late Perry and Milly (Jones) Golden. Johnie spent most of his life in Vermilion and was employed in the Maintenance Department at the Ford Motor Company, from which he retired after 32 years of service. He was able to fully enjoy 21 years of retirement, spending his golden years in Mount Vernon, which was the happiest time of his life. Johnie cherished spending time with his devoted wife, his children and grandchildren. His hobbies included his collection of tractors, taking care of his beautiful property and pond, gardening and spending time enjoying his perfectly manicured lawn.

He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Vontene (Owens) “Lou” Golden; a son, Johnie (Barb) Golden Jr., of Fredericktown; two daughters, Vickie (Sammie) Hall of Mount Vernon and Lisa (David) Eidelberg of Dublin; four grandchildren, Phillip Golden, Courtney Hall, Aaron Golden, Jacob Eidelberg; four brothers, Roy Golden, Jesse Golden, Tommie Golden, William Golden; and three sisters, Hazel Frederick, Bonnie Griffith, and Wanda Kendrid.

Besides his parents, Johnie was preceded in death by his brother, Jackie Golden; and two sisters, Laura Frederick and Mary Jane Alford.

Friends may call Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home where a memorial service will follow beginning at 3 p.m. The family will observe a private graveside service at a later date.
