MOUNT VERNON — Frances E. Phillips, 94, of Mount Vernon, passed away Friday morning, Feb. 3, 2012, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
She was born Feb. 24, 1917, in Mount Vernon, daughter of the late Henry and Jesse (Bone) Sharp.
Frances was a member of the Green Valley United Methodist Church near Mount Vernon, the Liberty Grange, and the Knox 148 Pythian Sisters.
Frances is survived by her sons, Harold (Carol) Phillips of Delaware, Paul (Marcella) Phillips of Fredericktown, and Herb (Linda) Phillips of Mount Gilead; daughters, Nancy Cline, Mary (Marvin) Ervin of Fredericktown, Deborah (Jeffrey) Berger of Mount Vernon and Barbara (Mark) Bond of Mansfield; 30 grandchildren, many great- and great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Monabelle Negus of Montana.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Richard B. Phillips; son, Roger Phillips; daughter, Rachel Garber; sisters, Elinor Sharp and Maxine Harbarge; and a stepbrother, Harmon Straley.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Green Valley United Methodist Church, 9288 Green Valley Road, Mount Vernon. Burial will follow in the Green Valley Cemetery.
