FREDERICKTOWN — Peggy Wells, 84, of Watson Street, Fredericktown, passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Peggy was born Aug. 8, 1927, in Philadelphia to John and Mary Kathleen (Welsh) Hourigan. Peggy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother with a heart of gold. An Irish lass at heart, she spoke proudly of her heritage and enjoyed listening to Irish music. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends, and especially by her loving husband of 65 years, Paul.

Peggy had been employed at Ritchey’s Cardinal Market in Fredericktown for over 35 years. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, the Fredericktown Senior Citizens, Gideons International; and was a former member of the Fredericktown Pythian Sisters.

Surviving besides her husband, Paul, are her daughters, Kathleen Mary (Timothy D.) Hammock of Marysville, Jackie Lynn (Fred H.) Henwood of Howard and Melanie Kay (Jack) Craw of Fredericktown; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her brothers, William Reinner, Alowishus Hourigan, Jack Hourigan; and sister, Kathleen Morgan.

Friends may call today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown, where funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. Pastors Susan Stevens and Sonja Bender officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
