MOUNT VERNON — Charles M. Bishop, 87, of East Chestnut Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at Country Club Nursing Center in Mount Vernon.

He was born June 2, 1924, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Kenneth and Cora (Bennett) Bishop. Charles served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired in 1979 after 30 years of employment as a computer specialist with the U.S. Government. Charles was a member of the Shepard Church of the Nazarene in Gahanna.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred (Sherman) Bishop; his children, Dorothy “Dotty” Bishop of Mount Vernon, Charles (Janet) Bishop of Euclid and Peter (Michelle) Bishop of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a granddaughter, Miriam Bishop.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Bishop.

The family will observe a private graveside service at a later date.

The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Charles M. Bishop.
