BELLVILLE — Robert Alvin Carroll, 88, of Palmetto, Fla., formerly of Butler, died Feb. 12, 2012, at Woodside Village Care Center, Mount Gilead.
He was born July 27, 1923, in Washington, Pa., to John Harrison and Olive (Norris) Carroll. He was a veteran of U.S. Army during World War II and received the Bronze Star. Bob was a lifelong educator and a coach.
Preceded in death by wife, Ruth (Swigard) Carroll; parents; three brothers.
Surviving are sons, Bob (Pam), Tom (Bunni), Mike (Heidi), Dave (Tina); daughter, Cathy (Rick) Meilander; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, 5 to 8 p.m., Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, where funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Alan Rose will officiate. Burial in Fredricktown Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 535.
