BELLVILLE — Ronald E. Blankenship, 65, died Jan. 23, 2012, in Hospice House of Ashland.

Ronald was born Oct. 7, 1946, in Marion, to Robert E. and Edith (Hildebrand) Blankenship. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he served during Vietnam. Ron worked at the Mount Vernon Developmental Center, retiring in 1997. During his time there, he attended COTC, earning his RN.

Surviving are his wife, Tharon (Snyder) Blankenship; children, DeNise Sapp, Robert C. Blankenship, Ronda Utter and Angela Willis; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Corina) Blankenship of Mount Vernon; nieces; nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carol Ruhl.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m. in Gay Street United Methodist Church, 18 N. Gay St. Military honors will follow the service. Private interment at a later date.
