BUTLER — Betty M. Cockrell, 92, of Hildebrant Road, Butler, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, at Knox Community Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Nov. 15, 1919, in Marion, to the late Clifford (Grace) Knight and Ruth (Mathias) Knight. Betty was employed at Mercy Hospital in Mount Vernon and retired from Knox Community Hospital. She was a 57-year member of the Fredericktown Church of the Nazarene and a 20-year volunteer for Interchurch of Fredericktown. Betty enjoyed puzzles and crocheting, but most important to her was the quality time she spent with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by four daughters, Betty (Paul) Davis of Galion, Mary (Keith) Carr of Butler, Norma Sue Antrican of Butler and Margaret (Lane) Graves of McArthur; four sons, Charlie (Carol) Cockrell of Fredericktown, David (Ruby) Cockrell of Fredericktown, Dan (Connie) Cockrell of Fredericktown and Paul (Bobbi) Cockrell of Lakeland, Fla.; 58 grandchildren; 109 great-grandchildren; 44 great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Theresa Cockrell; a sister-in-law, Margaret Browning of Marion; and her canine companion, Suet.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Cockrell and John Cockrell; a brother, James Rairdon; two sisters, Virginia Kelly and Esther Sutfin.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Fredericktown United Methodist Church, 123 Columbus Road, Fredericktown. The Rev. Larry Angel will be officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
