UTICA — Marjorie B. Cosner, 90, of Utica, passed away Sunday evening, Feb. 19, 2012, at Knox Community Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born May 23, 1921, in Fredericktown, daughter of the late Charles and Beatrice (Scott) Speaks. Marjorie was a charter member of the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon, where she taught Sunday school for over 40 years. She was also a member of the Workers for Christ at the church. Marjorie was a member of the Countryside Club and a former member of the Moose. She enjoyed working on the family’s dairy farm with her late husband, Richard. She loved to spend time with her family and always gave her love unconditionally to everyone she met.
Marjorie is survived by her children, Rick (Cathi) Cosner of Newark, Kelly Horne of Newark, Kerry Cosner of Utica, and Don Cosner of Mount Vernon; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Arlene Spellman of Colorado.
In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. Cosner; a daughter, Kathy Tier; brothers, Dana, Don, and Fred; and sisters, Mary Jane and Rose-Ada.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of a funeral service celebrating the life of Marjorie at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, 205 N. Mulberry St., Mount Vernon, with the Rev. Warren Outhwaite officiating. Burial will follow in Brandon Cemetery.
