MOUNT VERNON — A. Alverta (Haynes) Thompson, 93, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home at Mount Vernon.

She was born July 4, 1918, in Bloomingburg, to the late Fred W. and Theresa Haynes. She was one of nine siblings. Alverta was a proud member of the Triangle Chapter 592, Order of Eastern Star, for 63 years. She retired from A&P as a head bookkeeper after 31 years of loyal service.

Alverta’s baby daughter, Bonnie Elaine, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her loving brother, Rufus (Olive) Haynes; and daughter, Sandra Bradley. She was the proud grandmother of Gregory (Connie) Quick, Donald (Candie) Quick, Jeffery (Jerrie) Quick, Brian Quick, Randy Howell, Melinda Grannis; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters.

Family and friends may call Friday, Feb. 24, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home, 515 High St., Worthington, OH 43085, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Blendon Central Cemetery.
