MOUNT VERNON — Mary Margaret “Blondie” Peterson, 97, of Mount Vernon, passed away Monday evening, Feb. 27, 2012, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home.
She was born Aug. 30, 1914, in Columbus, and was the daughter of the late William and Jennie (Owens) Smith. Mary was a lifelong member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Mary and her husband, James, owned and operated a mobile catering business in Mount Vernon prior to their retirement in 1979.
She is survived by her four children, Bill Peterson and Emily “Bill” Miller Jr., both of Mount Vernon, James (Mary Anne) Peterson of Fredericktown and Mary (Sam) Fuller of Saxonburg, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Peterson; and a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Peterson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 1, at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond as celebrant. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is handling the funeral arrangements for the Peterson family.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s name to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church or the Ohio Eastern Star Activities Department.
