ST. LOUISVILLE — Ralph “Jay” Thompson, 77, of St. Louisville, passed away Feb. 28, 2012, at Flint Ridge Nursing Home in Newark.

He was born Jan. 19, 1935, in Newark to the late Ralph D. and Ella (Taylor) Thompson. Jay was a U.S. Marines veteran.

Jay is survived by his wife of 42 years, Margaret; his six children, Mike (Donna) Thompson of Thornville, Rebecca Vance of Kirkersville, Janet Brown of Gahanna, Joe Thompson of Pataskala, Joe (Dora) Kieber of St. Louisville and Jason (Trishia) Thompson of Newark; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacky Franks; three brothers; and a sister.

Friends may call Friday, March 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bladensburg Church of Christ, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m., with Pastor Ben McKinstry officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance, will be in Eden Cemetery. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Bladensburg is handling the funeral services for the Thompson family.
