MOUNT VERNON — Mary Evelyn Scheck, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at Autumn Health Care in Mount Vernon, with family present.

She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, most recently a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod in Mansfield. She was a helpmate in business with her husband. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening vegetables, fruits and beautiful flowers. She found pleasure in music and singing, and loved people of all ages, especially babies and children. Mary was a most loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

She is survived by her children, two daughters, Kathy (Jeff) Slusser of Columbia, Tenn., Becky (Tim) O’Flynn of Lutz, Fla.; five sons, Richard (Linda) Scheck of Shreve, Russell (Pat) Scheck of Mount Vernon, Ken (Sandy) Scheck of Centerburg, Tom Scheck of Falls Church, Va., Doug (Kathy) Scheck of Zanesville; daughter-in-law, Sharon Williams of Loudonville; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Marion Chadwick of California; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett; her son, Roger; one great-granddaughter; her parents, Milton Harrison “Harry” and Mary Gertrude Chadwick; two sisters, Goldie Hanson and Nina Tooman; four brothers, George, Larry, Milton and Kenneth Chadwick.

Her remains were donated to Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine for educational purposes.

A memorial service celebrating Mary’s life will be held Saturday, March 10, at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 1685 Lexington Ave., Mansfield. Officiating will be Pastors Denis Wittenberger and Kenneth D. Scheck II.

We, the family, of Everett and Mary Scheck give our Lord, God the Father, His Son, our Savior Jesus, and the most Holy Spirit glory, honor, praise and thanksgiving for their lives.
