BELLVILLE — Max Stahl, 81, died March 7, 2012, in Mansfield MedCentral.

Max was born June 15, 1930, in Bell-ville, to Edgar and Opal (Walker) Stahl. Upon his honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force, he began working as a firefighter, retiring from the Mansfield Fire Department. Max was instrumental in forming Mansfield’s Arson Bureau, and served as an arson investigator. He formed the local EMT program, and was a certified EMT teacher.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta (Kelly) Stahl; daughter, Sue Stahl; sons, Randall Stahl and Jerry Stahl; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Noel Stahl. Preceded by parents; brother, Joseph Stahl.

Visitation is Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m., Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, where the Mansfield Fire Department will stand a fire watch. At 5 p.m. Masonic service will begin. Funeral service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Karin Wright will officiate. Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery. Full obituary is at http://www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.
