MOUNT VERNON — Kenneth Edwin Romang, 87, of Mount Vernon, went to be with his Savior on Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Whispering Hills Care Center in Mount Vernon.
He was born Oct. 13, 1924, in Cosby, Mo., to the late William and Bertha (Bieri) Romang.
He proudly served our nation in the South Pacific during World War II. He worked for many years as an agronomist with the Missouri Farmer’s Association. He enjoyed a strong family history with his childhood church, Hope United Church of Christ in Cosby, Mo., and was a longtime member of Blue Ridge Bible Church in Kansas City. For decades, he was an active member with The Gideons International.
He is survived by his elder brother, Orville (Jackie) Romang of Lawson, Mo.; a son, Larry (Karen) Romang of Overland Park, Kan.; a daughter, Cathie (Gregory) Benson of Port-Au-Prince, Haiti; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Frances (Koch) Romang; and a sister, Dorothy Frady Easterday of Mount Vernon.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Hope United Church of Christ, Cosby, Mo. Interment will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Cosby, Mo. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at Hope United Church of Christ. Services under the direction of Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
