MOUNT VERNON — A funeral service celebrating the life of Lillie L. “Billie” Temple Winn, 94, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Kirkersville, will be held Sunday, March 18, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, Kirkersville, with burial to follow at Kirkersville Cemetery.

Billie died peacefully, Wednesday, March 14, 2012, following an extended illness. She was born in Columbus May 17, 1917, the daughter of Ernest C. and Doris E (Sheets) Keffer.

A sign painter and owner of the Temple sign company, Billie also worked as the manager of Clark’s Bakery shop. She was a former member of the Southwest Licking Baptist Church, and was an active member of the Kirkersville community, serving as president of the PTA and Home Demonstration Clubs, member of the Sunshine Club Senior Citizens at Kirkersville and Summit Station Senior Citizens, along with the women’s society at the Baptist Church.

She is survived by her loving family; daughter, Leora (Casey) Schmidt of Fredericktown; son, Robert Lee (Sharon) Temple of Millersport; grandchildren, Angela (Ed) Burton, Stephanie (Duncan) Kerr , Nicole (Jeff) Dickerson, Caleb and Zach Temple and Ariane Williams; three stepgrandchildren, Mark, Deanna and Debra; 13 great-grandchildren; along with a niece, Nina Buffington.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Clarence Temple in 1973 and Charles L. Winn in 1993; a daughter, Gloria Jean Williams; a granddaughter, Cherie Temple; and two sisters.

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, 285 E. Main St. in Kirkersville, where an on-line guest register is available at
