MOUNT VERNON — Betty K. (Bosart) Coon, 88, of Mount Vernon, passed from this life March 15, 2012. Betty’s final wish, which was fulfilled, was to pass at home with her family at her bedside. Betty was a child of the Depression, a World War II factory worker, post-war bride, loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Born Aug. 10, 1923, in Columbus and raised on an Ohio State University farm, Betty graduated from North High School in Columbus. She was proud to have worked as one of the thousands of “Rosie the Riveters” during World War II. She married her sweetheart (William) Paul Coon of Mount Vernon in September 1947; retired from First Federal Bank in the late 1970s and lived the rest of her long, healthy and happy life in Mount Vernon. Betty loved her family above all else. She and Paul raised two wonderful sons, Lance and Grant. After Paul’s death in 1991, Betty devoted herself to her sons, daughters-in-law, sisters and brother, and to her life as adoring grandmother to grandsons, Trevor and Kyle. Betty loved going to the annual Bosart reunion to join in celebration of the importance of family; last attending in the fall of 2011. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends leaving a legacy of strength and love. A family friend said, “Tears can heal, memories can comfort and love lives on forever.”
Betty is survived by her son, Grant, and daughter-in-law, Kathy of Howard, Ohio; son, Lance and daughter-in-law, Judy Mitchell of Scottsdale, Ariz.; grandsons, (William) Trevor and Kyle Coon, both of Howard; stepgrandsons, Noel Hoblit of Phoenix, Ariz., and Brian Hoblit (Adrienne Meredith) of Davis, Calif.; including stepgreat-grandchildren, Zachary and Katherine Hoblit, also of Davis, Calif.
