MOUNT VERNON — Alvin F. “Tony” Lawson, 70, of Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 21, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 9, 1941, in Yukon, W.Va., son of the late Cecil and Margaret (Dye) Lawson. Tony retired from the State of Ohio Weights and Measure Department. He also worked at New Hope and Columbia Gas. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Gwen, all over the United States.

Tony is survived by his loving wife, Vonda Gwen (Thomas) Lawson; sons, Ronald Lawson, Greg (Jody) Lawson and Jason Lawson; stepsons, Indol Dale (Janice) Moore, Chris (Julie) Moore and Russell (Marilyn) Bostwick; daughters, Jana (Greg) Starkey and Wanda Board; stepdaughter, Leslie (David) Patterson; grandchildren, Amanda and Bobby Wirick, Josh, Mark, Willie, Dustin, Dylan, Dameon, Brandi and Garrett Lawson, Adam Simpson and Jess Busenberg; stepgrandchildren, Allison Patterson, Whitney Bostwick, Cameron and Nick Moore, Valine and Corey Cline, and Brittany Johnson; four great-grandchildren; special friends, the Finnell family; brothers, Curt (Mavis) Lawson, Fred (Sandy) Lawson and Roger (Laura) Lawson; and a sister, Shirley (Dan) Kelley.

In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Lawson.

In following with Tony’s wish, there will not be any services. A private inurnment will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
