CENTERBURG — Agnes C. Hawkins, 81, of Reynolds Road, Centerburg, passed away Friday, March 23, 2012, at the Centerburg Pointe Nursing Home.

She was born Jan. 12, 1931, in Mount Vernon to the late John and Helena (Berg) Krempel. Agnes was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 13 years at the Mount Vernon Developmental Center. Agnes enjoyed gardening, music, watching old movies and spending quality time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine (Dan) Foley of Mount Vernon; her son, Matthew (Barbara) Hawkins of Centerburg; five grandchildren, Hannah Hawkins, Emma Hawkins, James Foley, Andrew Foley, Michael Foley; two brothers, Lawrence (Theresa) Krempel of Newark, James (Roberta) Krempel of Wooster; and two sisters, Frances Umphryes of Fredericktown and Veronica Dezse of Indiana.

Besides her parents, Agnes was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Shaffer, Helen Mills and Margaret Chester; two brothers, Leo Krempel and John Krempel Jr.

Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, where a Rosary will follow. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions in Agnes’ name may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
