FREDERICKTOWN — Virginia “Sue” Buchanan, 84, formerly of Columbus, died Saturday, Mach 24, 2012.

On Dec. 5, 1927, Sue was born in St. Marys, W.Va., to the late Marshall Winfred and Garnet Ila (Dotson) Cox. Shortly following graduation, Sue married Wallace Woodrow “Woody” Buchanan, on Sept. 1, 1946. As a family, they moved to Columbus in 1954, for his work, and he preceded her in death in 1988.

A loving homemaker, Sue took the occupation of being a “mother” to her six children to heart, surrounding her husband and children with love each and every day. Sue was a member of the Fredericktown Church of Christ and formerly of the Cemetery Road Church of Christ in Hilliard.

Sue will be missed by her children, Joyce (William) Lau, Mary (Tom) Waugh, both of Reynoldsburg, Kathy (Bob) Nichols of Fredericktown, Nancy Buchanan of Grapevine, Texas, and Donald (Debra) Buchanan of Marysville; daughter-in-law, Marsha (John) Buchanan of Whitehall; two grandchildren, Paul Woodrow (Beth) Buchanan and James Anthony (Deborah) Buchanan; four great-grandchildren, Rosie, Charlotte, Liam and Henry Buchanan; two grand dogs, Lucy and Basil; two siblings, Verna Lou Haven of Chuluota, Fla., and James Cox of Laurens, S.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sue was preceded in death by her son, John Wallace Buchanan.

Services celebrating Sue’s life will be observed privately by her family and friends. Burial will be held in Glen Rest Memorial Estate in Reynoldsburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Morrow County Dog Shelter and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.
