MOUNT VERNON — Glenn Allen Hoover, 86, of Mount Vernon passed away Saturday afternoon, March 31, 2012, at his home.

He was born Oct. 16, 1925, in Muncie, Ind., son of the late Murray and Clytice (Reese) Hoover. Glenn was the youngest of six, with one brother and four sisters. He married Miriam Strickler in 1952 and they had two children who survive him, Debra (Hoover) Duke and Edward Allen Hoover. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Lauren (Duke) Garrido, Edward Allen Hoover Jr., Licia Anne (Hoover) Bradshaw and Sherry Lynn Hoover; one great-grandchild, Zoe Ariana Bradshaw; son-in-law, David W. Duke; grandsons-in-law, Joshua Alan Garrido and Len Robert Bradshaw; daughters-in-law, Sue (Hoover) Holt, Ruth (Hoover) Bradley and Susan Hoover; nieces and nephews, with their extended families. All were greatly loved, mentored and remembered always by Glenn.

Glenn was a lifetime traveler, teacher, drummer, singer, dancer, storyteller, artist, Daddy Bear and friend. We loved him and miss him and will be grateful always for his sweet presence, joy, gratitude for life, and most of all for his love.

A memorial celebration of his life will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Seventh-day Adventist Hill Church, 535 Wooster Road, Mount Vernon, with the Rev. Fred Shoemaker officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial celebration.

In lieu of flowers, please celebrate life by planting a tree in the location of your choice in Glenn’s memory.
