MOUNT VERNON — Laddie Hurt, 72, of Kimberly Drive, Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

She was born April 2, 1940, in Newberry, S.C., to the late Otto and Lucille Franklin. She was employed and retired from Kenyon College after 20 years of service as the Director of Telecommunications. Laddie enjoyed needlepoint, crochet, growing orchids, traveling, playing cards and teaching ceramics. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Knox Chapter 236, and was the Worthy Matron in 1976. Laddie absolutely loved wintering at her home in Florida and her two schnauzers.

She is survived by her husband, Clifford Hurt; three sons, Phil (Jeannee) Hurt, Harry Hurt and Allen (Deb) Hurt, all of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren, Nicole Fawcett, A.J. Hurt, Travis Hurt, C.J. Hurt, Phillip Hurt; and four great-grandchildren.

Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, where the Knox Chapter 236, OES, service will begin at 7:45. A graveside service will be held Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m. in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Marvin Haught officiating.
