NORTH SALEM — Carol Jean Robertson, 72, of North Salem, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2012, at the Beckett House in New Concord.

She was born in Coshocton Hospital on Dec. 8, 1939, to Byron B. and Evelyn (Gardner) Singer and was raised in the Methodist faith.

She is survived by two brothers-in-law, William (Wanda) Robertson of Lady Lake, Fla., and Robert Cunningham of St. Mary’s; special nephews and nieces, Kevin (Kate) Cunningham of Norwich, Kirk Cunningham of St. Mary’s, Kendra Deubler of St. Mary’s and Randy Robertson of Jacksonville, Fla.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas L. Robertson whom she married Aug. 14, 1971, and who died April 13, 1985; and niece, Kelly Jo Cunningham.

She graduated from Warsaw High School in 1957 and began working that same year at Newberry’s Department Store in Coshocton until it closed in 1996. She began her more than 50-year career in retail as a cashier/sales clerk, working her way up to Assistant Office Cashier, Office Head Cashier and was also the District Manager Secretary. Since 1996, she had been employed by Big Lots in Cambridge as Bookkeeper/Office Coordinator.

Carol was a kind and gentle woman who loved feeding wildlife. She was an avid photographer, and a talented, self-taught artist. One of her fondest memories was riding her beloved horses, Apache and Shane.

The funeral service will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Bundy-Law Funeral Home, with visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. The Rev. Max Beery will officiate the service with burial following in North Salem Community Cemetery.
