MOUNT GILEAD — Ronald A. Dillon, 60, of Mount Gilead, passed away Saturday morning, April 7, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family following an extended illness.

Ron was born Sept. 1, 1951, in Mansfield, to the late Rudell R. and Verna J. (Caudill) Dillon. He attended Mansfield Senior High School and was previously employed by Ohio Brass and Peabody Barnes before retiring from Ariel Corp. after nearly 21 years of loyal, dedicated service on July 1, 2011. He was a Chesterville resident for nearly 20 years. Ron attended Waterford United Methodist Church. His interests included antique tractors and being an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan.

Ron is survived by his wife, Linda Dillon of Chesterville; children, Stephanie (Patrick) Dillon Morgan of New Straitsville, Andrew (Maria) Dillon of Mansfield, Katherine Dillon of Mount Vernon; stepchildren, Jennifer Dillon Messinger of Pataskala, Nicole (Stephen) Pearce of Denver, Colo., Michael (Lindsey) Cairns of Las Vegas, Nev.; sisters, Wanda M. Dillon (John Helms) of Fort Worth, Texas, Helen R. Dillon (Michael Bennett) of Fayetteville, N.C., and Sandra S. Dillon of Mansfield,; four grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his infant brother, Michael R. Dillon.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Ron will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon, with Pastor Brian Hassel officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ron’s name to Hospice of Knox County or the American Lung Association.
