MOUNT VERNON — Donna M. Selby, 83, of Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born Aug. 28, 1928, in Coshocton County to the late Ralph and Gladys (Dugan) Melick. Donna was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She graduated from Union Local High School in 1946. Donna had worked for over 10 years in the Mount Vernon City Schools cafeteria. She was a volunteer for St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and Interchurch Social Services. She was also a member of the Tan and Toil Garden Club.
She is survived by her children, Janet (Arthur) Baer of Springfield, Julie (Eligerr) Selby-Mosby of Mount Vernon, Jennifer (Edson) DeVore of Daytona Beach, Fla., Jeff Selby of Danville, Ky., and Joe Selby of Daytona Beach, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, Aaron Baer, Sarah Columber, Sonya Selby, Kelly Watts, Molly Selby, Daniel Selby, Tessa Selby, Amanda DeVore, Richard DeVore, Tyler Kipp, Dylan Kipp and Tiarah Kipp; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia (Lester) Hammond of Marne.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, C. Richard “Dick” Selby; a son, James Selby; brothers, Gail, Charles, Gerald Melick; and sisters, Doris Mentis and JoAnn Tolliver.
Friends may call Sunday, April 15, from 3 to 5 p.m.. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon, with a Rosary Service at 5 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond as celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
