MOUNT VERNON — Walter Patterson Jr., 93, of Mount Vernon passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at Autumn Health Care in Mount Vernon.

He was born July 3, 1918, in Monroe Township, son of the late Walter Patterson Sr. and Mary (Brown) Patterson Vannatta. Walter was a retired salesman for the Bissman Co. and an Air Force Veteran of World War II earning the rank of Master Sargent. He was a life member of the VFW and DAV.

Walter is survived by a brother, Robert (Charlotte) Patterson of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha (Spellman) Patterson; brothers, William and Raymond Patterson; and sisters, Ellen Hobbs, Barbara Patterson and Lillian Dauphin.

A graveside service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. R. Keith Stuart, Ph.D. Military honors will be provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
