MOUNT VERNON — Geraldine L. “Jerry” Maggard, 72, of Mount Vernon, slipped into the arms of Jesus, Friday, April 13, 2012, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Geraldine was born May 27, 1939, in Columbus, to Theron and Irene (Miller) Long.

Surviving are her husband, Gary W. Maggard, whom she married Nov. 24, 1956; her sons, Mark (Amy) Maggard of Powell and Michael (Birgit) Maggard of Mount Vernon; her daughters, Laura (John) Cook and Linda (David) Patrick, both of Mount Vernon; daughter-in-law, Kim Maggard of Mount Vernon; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and her brother, James (Nancy) Long of Howard.

Besides her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Maggard; a grandson, Ryan Maggard; and her sister, Joanne Fowler.

Friends may call today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m., with Pastor Mark Carpenter officiating. Entombment will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
