MOUNT VERNON — Ralph M. Brooks, 77, of Mount Vernon, died Friday, April 13, 2012, at his residence.
Ralph was born July 7, 1934, in Mount Vernon to Martin and Mable (Johnson) Brooks and had spent his lifetime in the Knox County area. He retired as the owner/operator of Brooks Refuse and Recycling that serviced clients in Knox County. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Mount Vernon.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra L. (Ryan) Brooks; his son, Scott (Jobina) Brooks of Fredericktown; his daughters, Saundra Flowers of Mount Vernon and Tiffany (Peter) Lufkin of McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey; nine grandchildren; a great-grandson; and his sisters, Virginia Cline and Opal Kochis, both of Mount Vernon.
Besides his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Jean Brooks; and sister, Isabelle Blanton.
Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church, 1635 Old Delaware Road, Mount Vernon, with Pastor L.J. Harry and Major David Antill officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Gambier.
