MOUNT VERNON — Harry L. Chapman, 72, of Mount Vernon, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at his residence.
Harry was born Nov. 20, 1939, in Greer, to G.W. and Bertha (Norris) Chapman.
He is survived by his children, Patricia (Jack) Smith, Valentine Allen, Norman (Kathy Mowery) Chapman, Clark (Rebecca) Sams, and Alexander Sams; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Robert (Bonnie) Chapman, Ralph Chapman, Henry (Ginnie) Chapman, Kenneth (Sun) Chapman, Lulu (Dick) Snyder, Dorothy (George) Seitz, Goldie Rauch, Matilda Neighbarger; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Chapman.
Besides his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his brothers, George, Elmer and Norman; and sister-in-law, Thelma Chapman.
There will be a gathering to celebrate Harry’s life at Martinsburg Community Building Sunday at noon. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish. Any contributions may be made to Norman Chapman.
