MOUNT VERNON — Reba L. Bowles, 97, of Yauger Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012, at the Country Club Nursing Center in Mount Vernon.
She was born Sept. 23, 1914, in Sharpsburg, Ohio, to the late Earl and Lizzie (Strode) Dickson. Reba was a member of the Fredericktown First Church of God. She was a dedicated member of the Republican Party.
She is survived by her son, David Jackson of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Shirley (Ed) Myer of Mount Vernon; two stepsons, Major (Jean) Bowles and Harry Bales; a stepdaughter, Marie Cisco; five grandchildren, Jeremy Jackson, Tony Myer, Clarissa Dillinger, Sherry Shafer and Christine Foster; and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Horace Jackson; her second husband, Charles Bowles; a daughter, Karen Sue McKinster; a grandson, Jon Myer Jr.; and two sisters, Marie Heaton and Pauline Henthorn.
Friends may call Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the First Church of God (Anderson, Ind.), 10 Pine Street, Mount Vernon. Pastor Richard Prater will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
