CENTERBURG — Betty F. Burke, 76, of Centerburg, died Monday morning, April 23, 2012, at her residence.

She was born March 14, 1936, in Milford Township, Knox County, to the late Cecil Oscar and Edith Shaw (Dunn) Lauderbaugh. She was a lifelong area resident and a 1955 graduate of Centerburg High School. In her early years, she was a member of 4-H and worked at Kresge’s candy, nut and record counter. She was a member of the Centerburg Church of Christ and the Sunday school class there.

Betty was a family person, spending time with her family at the grandchildrens’ ball games, baseball, basketball, volley ball, football and choir and band concerts. Betty loved the outdoors, especially camping, campfires and flowers. Animals of all kinds held a special place in her heart and she would spoil them all.

Survived by her husband of almost 55 years, Donald Burke, and they were married Aug. 30, 1957, in Centerburg; sons, Leroy (Deena), David (Lisa), all of Centerburg; grandchildren, Ryan, Cody, Brandon and Bailee; sister, Mary (Bob) Johns of Centerburg.

Preceded in death by her sister, Jean Searcy in 2000.

Friends may call Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Centerburg Church of Christ, 3830 S. Coumbus Road, Centerburg, with the service following at 1 p.m., with Pastors Roger Crego, Daryn Dawes and Matt McManaway officiating. Interment will follow in the Eastview Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.
