MOUNT VERNON — Nell V. Chase, 87, of Clinton Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at her home.

She was born Jan. 28, 1925, in Brookshill, W.Va., to the late Gilbert and Dortha (Ramsey) Lang. Nell was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist City Church in Mount Vernon. She enjoyed flowers, sewing, crocheting and playing euchre. But most of all, Nell enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by four daughters, Virginia “Gini” (Michael) McKay of Mount Vernon, Harriet Benefiel of Mount Vernon, Ruth Chase of Mount Vernon, Rachel Chase of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four brothers, Glen (Roberta) Lang of Marion, N.C., Earnest (June) Lang of Mount Vernon, Hartsel (Wilma) Lang of Canton, Arnet Lang of Dundee; and a sister, Shirley Jeffries of Massillon.

Besides her parents, Nell was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Chase; four brothers, Claude, Merle, Carl and Troy Lang; and two sisters, Ruby Purtee and Nora Pearl Decker.

Friends may call today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. A funeral service will be held Friday at 2p.m. at the Seventh-day Adventist City Church, 425 S. Edgewood Road, Mount Vernon, with Pastor Rodney Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
