FREDERICKTOWN — Ruth E. Darling, 91, of Fredericktown, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at The Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon.
Ruth was born Oct. 28, 1920, in Loudonville to Frank and Maud (Hopper) Wright. She graduated from Loudonville High School and had spent most of her lifetime in the Fredericktown area, where she was a homemaker and helped her husband, Harold, maintain a family farm.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon. Ruth had served 25 years as a volunteer for the Knox Chapter of the American Red Cross in Mount Vernon; was a former 4-H leader and poll worker for the Knox County Board of Elections. She had been a member of the Town and Country Child Conservation League and had worked for the Knox County Extension Service in their homemakers program. Ruth also enjoyed quilting and participated in a quilting club at the church.
Surviving are children, Carolyn Kinney of Florida, Marion (Barbara) Darling of Fredericktown and Lynette (Michael) Schwartz of Frazeysburg; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Mona Brokaw of Fredericktown.
Besides her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Darling, in 1979; a son-in-law, Jack Kinney; and her brother, Doyle Wright.
Friends may call Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.. at the Snyder Funeral Home, 33 E. College St., Fredericktown, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Wildermuth officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
