SUMTER, Fla. — Michael Howard “Spanky” Schwenke passed away April 19, 2012, at the Lane Purcell Hospice Care Center in Sumter, Fla.
Michael was born in Columbus on March 10, 1951, to the late Howard A. Schwenke and Nina F. (Koehler) Schwenke. He lived most of his adult life in Mount Vernon, retiring to Lake Panasoffkee, Fla. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, was former owner of Exterior Design. Spanky was past retired president of Columbus Ohio Road Saints, was an avid biker and outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing.
He is surviving by his wife of 36 years, Barbara (Wolford) Schwenke; son, Jessie (Jill) Wiggins; granddaughter, Nadia of Las Vegas, Nev.; stepsons, Jody Wiggins and Jamie Thompson of Mount Vernon; sister, Judi (Bill) Porterfield of Utica; brothers, David (Helen) Schwenke of Columbus, Ray (JoAnn) Schwenke of Columbus, Ron Schwenke of Utica; many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews whom he loved with all his heart.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Albert and Blanche Schwenke, and Dwight and Ruth Koehler.
A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, May 6, at 2 p.m. at the Utica Sertoma Community Center, 134 N. Central Ave., Utica, with the Rev. Bruce Hissong officiating.
