MOUNT VERNON — Larry Russell Smith, 68, of Mount Vernon, passed away May 4, 2012, at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born March 21, 1944, in Utica to Russell Leonard and Rita (DeVore) Smith. He graduated from Fredericktown High School and was retired from Ward Kraft Forms of Ohio.

Larry was married to Patricia A. (Hammonds) Smith and has five children, Barbara (David) Heckman of Johnstown, Theresa (Jeffery) Jones of Hilliard, Russell (Kea) Smith of Mount Vernon, Jennifer (Clayton) Hall of Mount Vernon and Lucas (Joni) Smith of New Albany; 15 grandchildren, Ryan (Megan), Kassi, Maddison, Jacob, Christopher, CJ, Gavin, Alexis, Falon, Megan, Anna, Trevor, Jody, Michael, Natalie; and a great-granddaughter, Averi Denise. Larry is also survived by four brothers, Steve (Roberta) Smith, Richard (Paula) Smith, Dale (Bonnie) Smith and Donald (Barb) Smith; two sisters, Carol Kay (Robert) Frazee and Barbara (Don) Heffken.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, John Hubbard.

Friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, where a family prayer service will start at 8 p.m.

Larry was an amazing husband and a wonderful father. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
