MOUNT VERNON — Esther Ann (Hartley) Lord, 71, of Mount Vernon, left our world to be reunited with her husband and two sons on Sunday, May 6, 2012.
Esther was born Sept. 13, 1940, to Jess and Elizabeth (Rine) Hartley. She was a 1958 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and was retired after 23 years of service driving a bus for Mount Vernon City Schools. Esther enjoyed spending time with her family, attending functions of her grandchildren and traveling.
Esther leaves behind her daughters, Dawn Coe and Melissa (John) Shaw, both of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Samantha Shaw of Delaware, Andrew (Jocelyn) Shaw, Erin Shaw and Maggie Shaw, all of Mount Vernon, Victoria (Gary) Stickel of Columbus, Summer (Ray) Stephens of Howard, Laura (Derek) Shannon and Matthew Lord of Mount Vernon; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Jaycob and Kayleigh Shaw, Sean and Matthew Frost, Jazmaine Lord, America and Cameron Stephens, Makenzi Lord and Justice Shannon; and, her daughter-in-law, Glendora (Phillip) Lord.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robert Freedom Lord; her sons, Phillip Freedom Lord and Kevin Hartley Lord; her parents, Jess and Elizabeth (Rine) Hartley; and sisters, Evelyn Hartley and Margaret Shultz.
A graveside memorial service to celebrate Esther’s life will be held Saturday, May 19, at 1 p.m. in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is handling the funeral arrangements for the Lord Family.
