MOUNT VERNON — Edna Lucille Paige, 91, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012.

She was born Oct. 23, 1920, to Ernest Haire and Ethel (Marshall) Haire in Amity. She lived her entire life in Knox County. She belonged to the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church where she enjoyed being a member of the Christian Activity Time group.

Edna was a 50-year member of Monroe-Dan Emmett Grange and a member of Pomona Grange. She worked in the Knox County Extension Office for 23 years. She was a 4-H advisor for the “Stewin’ Stitchers” for many years. She was a lifetime member of the Alpha Chapter of Chi Epislon Sigma. She enjoyed family, friends, gardening, African violets, and feeding the birds.

Edna is survived by a son, Douglas (Ellen) Paige, who lives in Howell, Mich.; and a daughter, Linda (Randall) Inouye, living in Columbia, Md. Edna has four grandchildren, Shawn (Gretchen) Paige, Robyn (Justin) Carr, Lauren (Mason) Baron and Megan Inouye. She has two great-grandchildren, Sophie Baron and Alexander Carr.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Leroy Paige, Aug. 4, 1994; a sister, Donna Harris; and three brothers, Donald Haire, Jack Haire, and Dwight Haire.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church with Pastor Warren Outhwaite officiating. Friends may call Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is handling the funeral services for the Paige family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Knox County 4-H Foundation Endowment Fund or the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church.
