NEWARK — A funeral service for Franklin D. Butler of Newark will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark, with Evangelist Scott Bryant presiding. Interment will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends and relatives Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Masonic services will be held at the end of calling hours.
Mr. Butler, 78, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Mount Carmel East Hospital. He was born March 20, 1934, in Mount Vernon, to his parents, Dessell and Ethel (Giffin) Butler. He was a 1952 graduate of Mount Vernon Senior High School. Frank was with Columbia Gas of Ohio for 45 years. He was a member of Rocky Fork Church of Christ as well as New Home Lodge 338 F&AM and Teheran Grotto. Frank had a passion for restoring old cars and tractors, and was a member of Vintage Chevrolet Car Club of America and Land of Legend Antique Tractor Club. He is remembered by his family as a loving and caring father and grandfather.
Frank is survived by his sons, Gerald (Kimberly) Butler of Eaton and Gary (Lisa) Butler of Butler; grandsons, Andrew (Jane) Butler of Alexandria, Va., and Bradley (Amanda) Butler of Oxford; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Jackson, Collette and Anderson; brother, Willis Butler of Princeton, Maine; as well as nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, his brother, Leo, preceded Frank in death.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Frank’s name may be made to Rocky Fork Church of Christ or to Hospice of Central Ohio.
