FREDERICKTOWN — Jeffrey A. Hinger, 58, of Shipley Road, Fredericktown, passed away Friday, May 11, 2012, at the Knox Community Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born May 6, 1954, in Mount Vernon, to Carroll and Joanna (Davis) Hinger. Jeff was employed at Jervis B. Webb Company for over 30 years and most recently at Ariel Corp. He enjoyed NASCAR and was an avid Ohio State, Cleveland Indians, Cavaliers and Browns fan. Jeff hunted, fished, mushroom hunted, split firewood, worked on cars and fixed just about anything that seemed to need repaired. But most of all, Jeff loved being with his family and watching his children and grandchildren in their sports activities.

He is survived by his daughter, Carrie (Mitch Legros) Hinger of Mount Vernon; his son, Jared (Becky Coning) Hinger of Fredericktown; three grandchildren, Alyxis Williams, Jayda Legros and Jacob Hinger; his mother, Joanna Hinger of Mount Vernon; three sisters, Linda Hinger of Mount Vernon, Vicky (Carl) Sapp of Mount Vernon and Judy (John) Francis of Mount Vernon; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Carroll Hinger; and his brother, Douglas Hinger.

Friends may call Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Covenant Christian Church of God. A service will follow beginning at 1 p.m. with Pastor Tim Overly officiating. The family requests that people wear casual sports attire. The family will observe a private graveside service at a later date.
