HOWARD — Dwight S. Farmer, 93, of Howard, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.

He was born March 5, 1919, near Utica and was the son of the late O. Clarence and Grace (Bell) Farmer.

Dwight was a Rawleigh salesman that gave the kids a stick of gum when he came with his van of household products and a smile. He also was a lifelong farmer with a love of land, animals, and his family.

Dwight is survived by his sons, Owen (Sandra) Farmer of Mount Vernon and Gerald Farmer of Gambier; a daughter, Nancy (Dale) Sapp of Howard; grandchildren, Dwight (Jamee) Farmer, Stephen (Sarah) Farmer, Suzanne (Scott) Dapprich, Melinda (Mike) Amheiser, Van (Susanna) Farmer, Anna Lou (Jeff) Weber, Brian Farmer, Merry (Joel) Cassetto, Larry (Rebecca) Williams and Dale (Tammy) Sapp; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Freda Farmer of Mount Vernon and Edith Webster of Utica.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evalin (Flack) Farmer in 2010; a brother, Oliver Farmer; and a sister, Helen Hunt.

Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon. Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Bell Church Cemetery (the church of his youth) with Minister Joel Cassetto officiating.
