MOUNT VERNON — Pauline E. Duston, 81, of Mount Vernon, died Sunday, May 13, 2012, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Pauline was born June 5, 1930, in Russell County, Va., to Ed C. Ray and Maymie F. (Brown) Ray and had been a resident of Knox County since 1956. She attended Sparta High School and had been employed at the former Buckeye Mart in Mount Vernon.

Pauline was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, AMVETS Post 95 Auxiliary and Ladies of the Moose at Colonial City Moose Lodge in Mount Vernon.

Surviving are her son, Rick (Vicki) Duston of Mount Vernon; daughters, Vicky DeWitt of Howard and Evelyn Duston of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren, Becky DeWitt, Angela (Ed) Harris, Sheila Duston, Will (Candis) Duston and J.R. (Julie) Duston; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Faye Ray of Mount Vernon and Connie (Steven) Harding of Mount Vernon; and her brother, Christopher Ray of Westerville.

Besides her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Richard Duston; great-granddaughter, Karianna Duston; and sisters, Nancy Jordan and Linda Ray.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Bob Veenhuis and Pastor Matt Otto officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
