UTICA — Jennie M. Briggs, 92, of Utica, and formerly of Columbus, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 13, 2012.
She was born March 27, 1920, in Ashtabula, Ohio, to Michael and Mary Rose.
Jennie was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Harry; her parents; brothers, Ralph and Edward; sisters, Dorothy Hayes and Theresa Rose.
She is survived by son, Richard (Teresa) Briggs; daughter, Barbara (Dale) McComb; grandchildren, Becky (Terry) Lester, Richard (Melissa) Briggs and Bob (Julie) Briggs; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Jacob, Ethan and Emily; sisters, Margaret Mello and Eleanor (Art) Nichols; brothers, Joe (Wanda) Rose and Michael (Lee) Rose; and many nieces and nephews.
She received the Lifetime Achievement Award and numerous other awards from the Columbus Board of Realtors and served on many committees during her 40-year career. She was a member of The Church of The Nativity, the Red Hat Club, and enjoyed hosting a monthly Rosary Group.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at The Church of The Nativity, 126 N. Main St., Utica, with the Rev. Father Steve Metzger officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Alton Cemetery, Galloway. Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon.
Friends may, if they wish, contribute to the Knox Community Hospital Palliative Care Unit, 1330 Coshocton Ave., Mount Vernon, OH 43050 in her memory.
