FREDERICKTOWN — Russell “Bus” Kempton, 88, of State Route 95, Fredericktown, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
He was born June 29, 1923, in Morrow County to the late Glenn Ross and Bessie (Haines) Kempton. From being a child to retirement, Bus worked on the family farm near Chesterville. He was a member of the Central Ohio Wagoneers, United Wagon Train, Draft Horse and Pony Association. Bus was active in Morrow County where he served on the Morrow County Fair Board and was a member of the Morrow County Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his children, Shirley (Phillip) Lower of Mount Vernon, Linda Goare of Chesterville and Phyllis (Buddy) Salyer of Marengo; seven grandchildren, Joe Lower, Rachel Aderhold, Courtney Lower, Kelly Wiley, Kerry Stygler, Katy Goare, Jessica Clark; nine great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Doris Pocock of Texas, Florence Simmons of Fredericktown and Jean Householder of Los Angeles, Calif.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Zelda Kempton; two sisters, Betty Winand and Georgia Wandle; and a son-in-law, Ron Goare.
Friends may call today, May 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown, where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. The Rev. Murray Krabill will be officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville.
