MOUNT VERNON — Charles Chopson Jr., 86, of Mount Vernon, passed away May 19, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born March 11, 1926, in Newark to the late Charles and Olive (Dunlap) Chopson.

Charles is survived by his children, Sally (Rick) Whitt, David (Dee Dee) Chopson, Shirley (Darrell) Pruett, Norma (Joe) Johnson, Betty (Steve) Follett, Linda Chopson, Ricky Chopson, Joyce (Chris) Sheridan and John (Karri) Chopson; seven grandchildren, Susan Pruett, Wayne (Tina) Pruett, Thomas (Kerri) Pruett, Tammy Pruett, Laura (Dave) Horn, Samantha (Jeremiah O’Neil) Carder and Sarah Whitt; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Ali, Sebastian, Garret, Seth, Katrine, Katerina, Nikita, Clayton, Conner, Haley, Faith, Austin, Hayden, Dante, Arron; and a brother, Clyde Chopson.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Chopson; a brother, Donald; and four sisters, Gladys, Lucille, Grace and Esther.

A private family memorial service is being planned. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is handling the funeral arrangements for the Chopson family.

Memorial contributions may be made in Charles’ name to Hospice of Knox County, 17700 Coshocton Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
