MOUNT VERNON — Roberta Gorsuch, 77, of Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Knox Community Hospital.

She was born April 20, 1935, in Mount Vernon and was the daughter of the late Robert L. and Nellie (Styers) Shannon. Roberta retired from the Mount Vernon City Schools in 1996. She attended First Baptist Church and was a member of the Women of the Moose.

She is survived by her sons, David E. Gorsuch of Mount Vernon and Douglas A. (Stacy) Gorsuch of Louisville, Texas; her daughter, Diana J. Gorsuch of Wadsworth; a brother, Robert (Pearlie) Shannon, and a sister, Virginia Casto, both of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren, Maribeth Gorsuch, Charlie Gorsuch, Allen Gorsuch and Alex Hartshorn.

Roberta was preceded in death by her husband, Earl J. Gorsuch, in 1996; and two sisters, Louise Beckholt and Leora Williams.

Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon, where a Women of the Moose service will follow at 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held Thursday at the funeral home at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Bob Hendrix officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
