DOYLESTOWN — Thomas J. Shreiner, 63, passed away unexpectedly on May 21, 2012.

He was born Aug. 28, 1948, in Barberton to William and Jean Maxine (Weber) Shreiner. A 1966 graduate of Barberton High School, Tom attended Ohio State University, studying Horticulture. He retired from Knox County Joint Vocational School, and was a life member of Barberton First Church of Christ. Tom was a member of Barberton Liedertafel, and enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, and working in his garden.

Preceded in death by his parents; and best friend, Gary Spencer.

He is survived by his children, Brian Shreiner of Barberton, Kelly Shreiner and Jacki Lewis of Mount Vernon and Paul (Frannie) Shreiner of Alaska; five grandchildren; fiancée, Elly Phillips; stepchildren, Matthew Tullis of West Salem, John Tullis of Wooster, Jim Gianoglio of Pittsburgh, Pa.; eight stepgrandchildren; brother, Russ (Deb) Shreiner of Barberton; sisters, Jerry (Bob) Gilson of Wilmington, N.C., Judy (Tim) Wilson of Wadsworth; many close friends.

Funeral service will be Friday at 6 p.m. at Barberton First Church of Christ, 552 Harvard Ave., Barberton, OH 44203. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday at the church.
